Your original message didn't say where Avit lived. If it was in Avoyelles Parish in Louisiana (Parish where town of Bordelonville is) you can check familysearch.com (mormons website) which has entries for an Avit Bordelon born around 1866 - 1870 showing his parents, but not his wife and kids. Also the website listed below (Johnny Bordelon website)has similiar info on this person. Possibly the 1900 census could help you, if you think this might be him, since it should show his month of birth as well as one of his wife and kids.
