I would suspect that all of the Sussex Boots families have a common ancestor somewhere back in the mists of time, but the line we have can only be accurately traced to James Boots, b. 1608, son of a Richard Boots. Whether that Richard is identical with the Richard 1585 does not seem capable of proof. I think someone has arbitrarily assigned a 1585 birth date for him based upon the age of his son.

BTW, one of the branches of the William York descendants married into another family that I am related to--the Piguet/Piquet family of Little France and Mallory, NY. I think it was through the wife of Herbert York.
