Thomas Peterson, born about 1826 (IN) married Mahala Boots before 1857 (IN). Their 7 known children (Leo, John, Rosa, Dora, William, Jason, Vina) were born between 1857 and 1875 ineither IN or MO. The family is in Chautaqua Co., KS in the 1880 census. Ideas about descendants?

Mahala Boots' parents were Martin S. Boots and Susannah Shumaker; Martin S comes from the Boots/Stieffel lines of Hans Adam Stieffel, 1733/1803, Germany/Virginia. The Petersons are likely to be a closely linked family to the Boots/ Stieffel, in their native Switzerland surnamed Bidert. But this is not now known is Thomas is of this line.
