I too am interested in the question of why Alt & Boots families are in Maryland around the Revolution. I've written the National Archives about Adam & Geo. Boots militia service, though I don't there are national records on this. Has land been identified in Frederick or Washington counties (MD) linked to them? Equally, for the Alt family. Why were they there? At least why were any who later were in Hardy Co., VA & connected to the Boots there? And which ones? -Lew Ellingham
