Martha Powers born Russell VA married Martin Lowell Clifton born Floyd VA s/o Martin J Clifton and Susan Barrett of Patrick/Russell VA in 1853 in Russell County. She listed her mother as Susannah Powers and the clerk’s office returned a marriage certificate from the marriage REGISTER listing her mother as Susannah Powers Turner.
Scouring the Turners in the 1850 Census, I did locate a Susannah Turner with an appropriate Martha in Cocke County, TN next to a generation younger Charles Turner all born VA. Does this Cocke TN Turner family ring any bells with the Turner Researchers of Russell, Va? Hugh Turner, James Turner, or Mary Turner?
A Martin L. Clifton was listed as a member of the 25th VA Cavalry, CSA.
In the 1870 RCVA Census, Martin Clifton is listed as a Chair Maker in the Copper Creek Township HH #44 with “Mattie” 35, Nancy 18, Thomas 15, George 11.
In 1873 Nancy Clifton married Miles Boothe. (LDS file states Wise VA)
In the Moccasin District of RCVA in the 1880 Census we find “Mattie” Clifton 50 (married), Nancy J. 26 (daughter); Charles M 7, Bob H 4 (grandson born 1876 as son of Nancy Clifton in RCV vital Statistics), John H 1 (Grandson) and Martha Lewis 42 (boarder).
In the North Fork District of Washington VA in HH#109 we find Martin L. Clifton 45, Clary E Bradley, Ruben M Bradly 14 (boarder), William H Bradly 12 (boarder KY/VA/VA), Mary A. Bradly 7 (boarder), Hanner Bradly 2 (boarder).
In the 1900 Wise County Census we find Martin L. Clifton and Cleary J. Clifton and son George W. Clifton’s family..
The 1910 Miracode for Wise VA census lists a Nancy Boothe age 52 with Charles 18 listed as son, and William age 15 listed as son. George Clifton 52 with wife Malissa 54 and daughters Martha 18, Lucinda 16, Darthula 14 and Vista 12.

Does anyone have any information to share about the family of Thomas Clifton or Charles M. Clifton born 1873 sons of Martha and Martin L. Clifton?
Does anyone have any information to share about the family of Robert H. Clifton/Booth, or John H Clifton/Booth, Charles L. Boothe, or William Boothe, sons of Nancy Clifton and Miles Boothe.?
