His mother was Susan Gadd.

His father, George Boord, had three wives (unknown, Susan Gadd, and Sarah unknown) and 13 children. All I know about George Boord is that he is supposedly from what is now WV (the Cheat River Valley) and that he moved to KY (Bourbon Co, 1810 census) and then IL (Edgar Co), where he died in 1846.

Elijah is said to be the third son, but I am not clear on who the older ones were. George Boord's will mentions Philip, Elijah, Calvin L., Lorenzo D., Mizaldus H., and George W.; I have no info on Philip but assume he was older than Elijah. Who the other older son was I do not know.

After Susan Gadd died, Elijah and his sister Elizabeth (and presumably the 2 older sons) were cared for by her mother. George Boord eventually remarried and moved to KY and IL, leaving Elijah and Elizabeth behind.

Elijah Boord and Nancy Crane married in Warren Co., Ohio, and moved to Fountain Co., Indiana, after Huldah was born.

Elijah was trained as a bricklayer/mason as well as a farmer and was responsible for some of the early buildings in Fountain Co.

(His son Oliver was my great-grandfather.)
