John Boone's (B. 1727) life

Much is written about Squire Boone and familys' trek from Pennsylvania to North Carolina. What is not widely known is John Boone's (son of Benjamin B. 1706) role during and after the trek, since he accompanied them on the relocation.

His mother, Ann Farmer supposedly died around 1730, about 3 years after John was born. It could be assumed that since Benjamin was a bachelor until 1736 (when he married Susannah Lykins), he may have been unable to take care of a small child alone. My question is, is it possible that John was raised by Squire and his wife? And is that the reason he went on the relocation to North Carolina? Records show that he owned land in the same vicinity of the Yadkin valley as Squire and his sons.

Daniel and his brother Squire's exploits have been widely known, but did John play any part in their early lives as one of the oldest in the clan?

Any help would be appreciated.

David Boone
