Larry,

Thanks for the cemetery tip. I had no idea about how to approach it. I don't see in cemetery search engines anything about who people are buried NEAR. So I guess you're saying I have to go look at the lay of the land!

Last week I couldn't figure out where Julia Anna Gardner died and was buried. Then, ironically, I found it was in my family's home cemetery! I'm sure we put flowers on her grave every Memorial Day since we covered all the ancestors' graves. I'd just forgotten. There are at least four or five generations of Hardy and Myers family members buried at Mt. Hope Cemetery, as well as other last names related to us (Edstrom, Cochran, etc.).

(FYI to anyone: Mt. Hope Cemetery is in Webb City, MO., right next to Joplin, MO, so some search engines list it as being in Joplin.) www.findagrave.com has good details, but not all people at Mt. Hope are listed on search engines because a full "inventory" never has been put online that I know of. I know we have ancestors there who are not listed as being buried there.

For the record, I'll insert that grave information that I just found here ...

Joseph Arnold Hardy was born on 12 Jan 1812 in Scott Co, KY. He died on 16 Jan 1879 in Joplin, Jasper County, MO. He was buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Webb City, MO.
Joseph married Julia Anna Gardner on 30 Jun 1831 in Ralls Co, MO (near Hannibal).
Julia was born on 23 Jan 1810 in Baltimore, Baltimore County, MD. She died on 12 Jun 1889 in Joplin, Jasper County, MO. She was
buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Webb City, MO.

Ironically, the Hardy branch of the tree moved to Scott Co., Ky, enmass from Maryland in the early 1800s, so they should have known of Jacob Myers. Of course, the Myers and Hardy branch of my trees didn't merge until my grandparents met and married in 1920 around Webb City. My Mom's family, totally unrelated to these branches, also comes from Maryland. Sometimes the overlaps are really strange.

You are great help! Thanks so much!

Leslie
