Jane,
As for as I know, the HOBBS family associated with my family were in just North Carolina before relocating to Lincoln Co., Tennessee. But there are several of the siblings for whom I am lacking information. It's always possible that one or more ventured across the border into South Carolina.
The HOBBS are not my direct line. But my 3rd great grandfather's, Thomas B. George's, first wife was a Susannah Hobbs; and two of his brothers, David W. George and William George, also married a HOBBS. David W. George married Susannah Hobbs' sister, Nancy Hobbs; and William George married a Margaret Hobbs -- not a sister, but probably a cousin. I just have yet to prove her parents/ancestry to make the connection.
