3. Tom Netherton
Resided in Buncombe Co. and enlisted CSA at the age of 23 (Aug. 6, 1861). Mustered in as a private and was promoted to Sergeant on May 2, 1862. He was wounded at Murfesboro, TN on December 31, 1862. Returned to duty on an unspecified date. Captured at Yazoo City, MS on July 13, 1863. Died at Yazoo City on July 20, 1863. Cause of death is not reported.

Tom had one child, a daughter, Maggie, who married Frank P. Sluder and lived in the Macedonia section of Buncombe County, NC.

Zack was a farmer, teacher, and civic leader in the Olivette and Craggy communities of Buncombe county. He was a Committeeman of West Buncombe School and a lay minister of the First Christian Church. He was loved by everyone in the community and was known as "Uncle Zack." Zack was first married to Julia Harrison. These are the generations of Zack and Julia Harrison:
