Hello Everyone, I am looking for info on my gr-gr-grandfather, James J. Boone b. June 6, 1840 d. January 25, 1914 m. Morning Jane Quinn b. May 29, 1840 d. May 19, 1926. d/o James Quinn and Phoebe/Pheby Holifield. James and Morning are buried at Mountain Rest Cemetery Potters Field Section, Kings Mtn., Cleveland County, NC. James and Morning had 4 children that I know of, there could possibly be others. I have very little info on James and Morning's children, except for my gr grandmother, Cora Bell Boone. Known children of James and Morning Quinn Boone are: 1. James "Bud" Boone m. Carrie George James and Carrie had a child Minnie Bell Boone who married Samuel Absher 2. George G. Boone b. 1864. d. 1937 Buried at Mountain Rest Cemetery Potters Field Section, Kings Mtn.,Cleveland County, NC. On George G. Boone's death certificate states that he was from Hemp. In the Rutheford County 1900 Census I found George and his family: Boone, George G. (head) b. April 1864 36 yrs old Annie (wife) b. Aug 1872 29 yrs old Ellen (dau) b. Apr 1887 13 yrs old Lillie (dau) b. March 1890 10 yrs old Nettie (dau) b. August 1892 7 yrs old Mary (dau) b. July 1898 1 yr old SURRATT, Elda (servant) b. Dec 1878 21 yrs old George's parents are listed as being from North Carolina. Annie J.'s parents are listed as being from South Carolina. George Clemmonsee Boone is also a son of George G. Boone. George Clemmonsee Boone is also buried at Mountain Rest Cemetery Potters Field Section, Kings Mtn., Cleveland County, NC. On George's G. Boone's death certificate it has his father listed as Jim Boone and mother maiden name as unobtainable and it lists George's birthplace as N.C. There are a few other names in the Mountain Rest Cemetery that I am curious about: The names in the cemetery are: Iler May Boone b. July 1878 d. September 1898 Eller Boone b. August 11, 1868 d. September 26, 1906 3. Cora Bell Boone (my gr-grandmother) b. March 22, 1871 d. August 17, 1966. Cora married John Wesley Smith January 6, 1889 in Rutherford County, NC.Both are buried at Providence Meth.Cemetery Rutherford Co., NC. I have more on her, if anyone would like to share info. On John W. Smith and Cora Bell Boones marriage certificate (1899) it has her father listed as J. J. Boone (living) mother listed as Morning (living) and they were residents of Henrietta, Rutherford County, NC. On Cora's Bell Boone's death certificate, it has her father listed as James Boon, mother's maiden name listed as unknown and it lists her birthplace as Mitchell County, NC. 4. Charles Boone ( I have no info on Charles except that he worked for the railroad and died from a railroad accident in 1939 in Cleveland or Gaston County.) In the book: CLEVELAND CO. DEATH CERTIFICATES VOLUME 1 1913-1919 BOOKS 1, 2, 3., has James listed: Boone, J. J. b. June 5 1840 d. Jan 26, 1914 Father: George Mother: _______ Death Reported by: G. G. Boone Buried At: Kings Mtn. Cemetery James and Morning in the 1870 Yancey County Census: BOON, James 25 M W NC Farmer Morning 27 F W NC Glorey 5 F W NC James S. 3 F W NC Pheby 9/12 F W NC I have never been able to find a marriage of James and Morning nor have I found them in any other Census, that is, until 1920 in Cleveland County, where I found Morning living with her son George G. Boone and she was listed as a widow. If anyone has any info my James J. Boone's parents or children, I would love to hear from you.
