DONATION LAND CLAIM Jesse V.Boon(e) b.1824 Montgomery Co.,Missouri; Arrived in Oregon,August 1846,securied land claim #377 in Clackamas County,Oregon 6-20-1851...639.20 acres. m.Elizabeth Fudge 9-23-1951 Polk Co.,Oregon. Jesse VanBibber Boone,born 1-25-1824 d.3-24-1872. Brother of Alphonso David Boone Jr.,came to Oregon with his family in 1846.Establishing a family homestead on land beside the Willamette River,(now Wilsonville) about midway between Oregon City and Butteville. Jessie and his father Colonel Alphonso David Boone,Sr., in 1847 placed in operation what was to become one of the imporant situated ferries of the middle river. After the elder Boone left for California mines,never to return,the ferry seem's to have passed chiefy into Jesse's hands,for it's continued operation,the service he maintained until his untimely death by Jacob Engle,in apparent altercation over Boon's right of access to the shore...a right of way he had enjoyed for over 20 years. He had 5 children. His mother was Nancy (Linville) Boone who died before 1846. Jesse VanBibber Boone,killed in Clackamas County,April 1872 by man naned Jacob Engle over land he had used for 20 years. Engle was sentenced to life,but died July 1872 in prison. SALEM,MARION CO.,OREGON....Court House. BOON MINORS,File #581. Guardianship of minor heirs of Elizabeth Boon who died 3-26-1876. Minnie Boon 13; Van Daniel Boon 10; John Boon 8. Thomas M.Creery,age 52,named Guardian 4-11-1876. He was husband of Elizabeth and stepfather of minors. Creery resigned when older children objected. William Jones named guardian 10-2-1876. Also George L(uther) Boon referred too. It was also stated that "said children have no relatives qualified to recieve an appointment as guardian nearer then brothers-in-law by marriage with the older sisters of these children." Also reference to property in Clackamas County. GEORGE LAW BOONE,born 4-17-1855 at Boone's Ferry, Clackamas Co.,Oregon,died at Brownsville,Linn Co.,Oreg. 3-14-1918 age 63 years. Mr.Boone remained with his parents until age 15,when his father died. For some time he resided in various places in the neighborhood of his home. On 5-29-1881 he married Mary E.Feaster and settled in Polk Co.,Oregon. For 12 years he resided with his family at Yaquina River (near Newport,Lincoln Co.,Oregon) and there after for a period of time in Philomath.(Benton Co.,Oregon) Then they moved to Linn County,in the vicinity of Brownsville,Oregon where he died. Survived by 2 brothers:V.D.Boone (Van Danel) of Yaquina,Lincoln Co.,Oregon;and J.J. (John) of Tualatin, Washington Co.,Oregon; also a foster daughter:Mrs.A.L. Lowrey of Mable,Lane Co.,Oregon.
