Our family lore has always said that we are related directly or indirectly to Daniel Boone. My mothers family comes from VA>NC>TN>KY>IN. Our Howards came through the Cumberland Gap with the Boones and families sharing other surnames in our family. We think the Boone connection is through our Howards, May Clementine HOWARD m. Edward GATES>"Elder" William m. Quintana BOWDEN>Francis m. Mary Horton MONTGOMERY>Francis m. Ann Ellinore ALLIN>William m.Sara HAWKINS>William m. Mary GRAVES>John(Heyward)Howard, born c. 1600, removed from Eng. to VA. The Howard name appears as a middle name in several Boone lines, and some family trees list a Howard as spouse to several different Boones, including Daniel's youngest daughter,(but this Howard died at a relatively young age, and I can't document offspring) or to his other relatives (not direct descendants). Can anyone give me clues to this mystery? I think there must be some validity to it because every single other family lore item has turned out to be legitimate. I'll be glad to share any of thse lineages.
