In 1775 Colonel Richard Henderson employed Daniel Boone to blaze a trail through the wilderness to a suitable place in Kentucky. Boone selected 29 men to assist him. Captain William Bush was one of those who helped to open Wilderness Road from the Blockhouse on the Watauga river to the mouth of Otter Creek on the Kentucky River. The party arrived on April 1, 1775 and began building the fort called Boonesborough. Captain Bush was one of those builders. Alarmed by turbulent situations with the Indians Captain
Bush sent message to advise the colonist to halt their journey. After the delay until 1785, the migration were four of Captain Bush's brothers, Phillip, John, Francis and Ambrose Bush.
