You might try the public library @ Springfield, MO. There is a small town NW of Springfield where they have a Nathan Boone celebration each year. Nathan Boone's cabin is enclosed by metal until there is enough money to restore it. Also, the Ozark Geneology Society has a lot of records. The Ozark Library is open 2-3 days per week, separate from the Springfield Library. Let me know if I can help more.
