This information was given to me by my cousin, Rhonda Mae (Skelton) Harrison of Missouri re her Boone family connection. This is the story:
David Boone and Rhoda Smith lived in Virginia. David was taken out and killed during the Civil War in 1864. Rhoda was left with 5 children and expecting the 6th. Also their house was burned and she took the covered wagon and headed southwest to Arkansas. Rhoda Boon(e) was in Phelps Co., Missouri, in 1876 with 4 daughters. She also had two sons, not in the census. Mary Ellen was 12.
From the census, Mary Ellen, daughter of Rhoda, was born in Arkansas, March 11, 1864.
Mary Ellen Boone married Alfred Lafayette Chilton.
Mary Ellen Boone Chilton's granddaughter is Rhonda Mae's mother Gladys Skelton of Elvins, Mo.
