This is probably not what you are looking for, but I thought it might be of some interest since we are both Bookhouts with the H in the name. Somewhere I have more info and I will hunt for it so I can tell you more.
My Great Grandfather was Judge John Bookhout. He was born inRoxbury, New York 3/20/1850. As an adult he moved to San Antonio or Port Lavaca and later to Dallas, Tx where he spent the rest of his life. I know he had a brother named George and one named Steele. A sister Aunt Mate Mackay.Admaril Hull was Judge Bookhout's Mother's Father. I can't find all of my documentation at this time, butI believe he was one of 8 or 9 children.Judge John Bookhout and his wife Mary Ella Randall(born in Port Lavaca 8-26-1857) were married on12/14/1875 and had 9 children: Virgie Grace 9-3-1876, Mary Ella 6-4-1878, Minnie Beulah 5-6-1881, Florence 4-21-1884, twins- John Jay 9-16-1886, James Randall 9-16-1886,Lillian May 2-25-1891, and George William 12-14-1895.My grandfather was George William who married Louise Goodloe on 5-20-1919 and had 4 children- George William, Fannie Lee, John Goodloe (my dad) and James Hughes.
This info is taken from handwritten notes that my deceased grandmother left us.She wrote - Lived in Oxnard Calif above Judge John Bookhout had brothers George and Steele.I don't know what Oxnard Calif is for.
Hope this is of some interest to you.
