Sheryl, I'm fascinated by your post at Genealogy.com. I descend from Nancy Rollins and William E. Bookout. I'm familiar with Carrie Fay Bookout marrying a Smith, but I don't think Nancy E. Snodgrass could have been Nancy Rollins. Nancy Rollins was living with William E. Bookout in: 1840 Murray Co., GA 1850 Cherokee Co., GA 1860 Hillsboro, Hill Co., TX 1870 Round Prairie, Benton Co., AR 1880 Benton Co., AR
She was born 16 Aug 1815 SC and died 7 April 1897 Maysville, Benton Co., AR. I have seen her headstone and think I have a picture of it somewhere. Her grave is now on private property. When I visited it, the property owners were kind enough to let us hunt through the weeds for the headstones. Anyway, I don't understand how Nancy Snodgrass could be Nancy Rollins since Nancy Rollins was married to William E. Bookout from 1830s until his death in 1871. She is listed in the 1880 census with her daughter and son-in-law as Bookout and is buried as Bookout. I'm interested in any additional information you might have. I'll see if I have any additional information on the Smith of Benton County.
