Re: Edmund Booker Jenkins. Here is what I have:I have been unable to find any information as to the antecedents of EDMUND Booker Jenkins. We do know that he was a soldier in the War of 1812. Prior to this he was second Lieutenant, Columbia County, Georgia Regiment of the Militia as recorded 20 January 1791 and was Sheriff of Columbia County 15 December 1790-1792. He later served as Surveyor General of the State of Georgia 1809-1817.Since the capital of Georgia was then located at Milledgeville the family removed from Columbia County to Baldwin County at about the time of his appointment. He served as Judge of the Superior Court of Milledgeville 3 December 1811 and a Commissioner 31 October 1814.EDMUND Booker Jenkins and MARY Walton Moore were married in Columbia County, Georgia on 22 February 1793.Their issue:
i. Martha Walton Jenkins, born in Columbia County, married 25 March 1812 Judge John A. Jones
ii. NANCY Hughes Jenkins, married JOHN Holmes Wright in Milledgeville, Baldwin County, GA.
EDMUND Booker Jenkins died 5 February 1817 in Milledgeville, Baldwin County, Georgia.
My next step was to check the probate records in Baldwin County, Ga for a will or for any records on the administration of the estate. I assume you have done this, correct?
