Hi, I am a descendent of Daniel Booher of Montgomery Co Ohio and his second wife, Mary and his father John Booher and wife Elizabeth Miller. I believe John's parents were Peter Booher and Catherine of Fayette County Maryland. Now, our family ha a story, written out by Thomas Booher about a close relative John Booher Born 1755 perhaps in Bedford Co PA or cumberland Co Pennsylvania that was attached or part of the Military/militia at Fort Pitt. The family has him getting very involved with Shawnee Indians and taking a Shawnee wife. He was supposed to hang with Simon Girty and finally left his post with the Shawnee from near the Fort area. The family history also state emphatically that Daniel and his first wife, Susannah both had "Indian" blood and that John Booher and his Shawnee family settled on the same piece of land at the confluence of the Missisisinewa and Elkhorn Creek in what is now Randolph County, Green Township after the end of the George Washington Indian Wars around 1795-96. I am trying to find the "Native Connections" that are spoken and written about in old family histories. The Tom Booher who wrote this is now dead I believe. He was in his late 80's 13-14 years ago. The John Booher had a name given to him by the Indians, "Wapamunga" meaning White Song Bird because John played the fiddle and sang since he was a kids. He seemed to have gained a lot of friends among the Indians when it was frowned upon by the militia. The group of Indians he was supposed to be with had a name, "Wapameshewa or Wapameshewas" or White Horse tribe or group of a larger group of Shawnee/ Delaware Indians of Ohio and Indiana. I know I am asking for a lot, but do you happen to have any information on this John Booher or any Boohers in this family lineage that married or had children by Indians?
