Re: Edward & Jane (nee Cottam) Bonney, 1861 & 1871 Lancashire census.
I have John Bonney born 1865 as a relation, and I have his descendency line to his 2 sons, and their son's wives, and their children to about 1940's. My Bonney's can be found on the 1881, 1891, and 1901 census in Preston, Lancashire.
I have a marriage certificate for John Bonney dated 3 November 1883 that reads: Groom: John Bonney, 24 years old, Bachelor, Brewer's Labourer, 23 St. Walburge Street, Preston, England, Father: Edward Bonney, Maltman, Witnesses: J. Bonney and M. Fitzgerald.
John married Ann Smith, daughter of Bernard Smith, at St. Walburge's Church, Maudlands, Preston, Bride: Ann Smith, 27 years old, Spinster, No Profession, 18 Abbey Street, Preston, Lancashire, Father: Bernard Smith, Cotton Mill Labourer.
John Bonney and Ann Smith had a son named Bernard Bonney who married a Walburga Smith, who was the niece of Ann, daughter of Joseph Smith, her brother, my maternal great-grandfather. Bernard and Walburga may have been 1st cousins. Joseph Smith and brother Francis Smith stayed with Ann and John Bonney at Dunderdale Street before Joseph was married.
I have a family tree created on Ancestry.com that shows the Smith and Bonney family connections.
