I have been looking into the Bonney family, because of a connection to the Osborne family. During the Revolutionary War one of the Bonney's was a Captain, I forgot his first name. My GGGGG-grandfather served with him a short period the same year he married a Deborah Bonney (Atwood, Leach, Taylor). I caught your message because another Captain (I think) was Hinman, who is supposed to be buried in Conn. Your Bonney may be named after him.
