John, I have a book "French and Swiss Protestants".
by Ravenel. Genealogical Publishing Co. Originally Published in
Charleston 1868.
Reprinted Genealogical Publishing Company.
Baltimore, 1968.
French Refugees also mentioned in another book ( I do not own).
Ramsay's "History of South Carolina," and those contained
in the Act of Naturalization of 1696, with a very old
manuscript list. the French settled on the south side of the Santee River,a town called "Jamestown" was laid
out. Another settlement in Berkley County,called Orange
Quarter, afterwards changed to Parish of St. Dennis.
List. contained;
Jean (French for John) Bonnel wife
Marie Lalon..
Daniel Bonnel & Marie Izambert.
Susanne Bonnel & Caroline.(list as a son).
many words in French or Swiss.
