Bonnel family of Elizabeth and Chatham, N.J. is peripheral to my research on McMane-McManes-McManus-McMen-McManners-McMein and other variants in Northern New Jersey, but I do have a several page published biography of Jonathan C. Bonnell (b. 1790), son of Nathaniel (1731-1809) and grandson of Captain Nathaniel Bonnell. If it is of interest and you do not have it, e-mail and I will be glad to mail it (I live in France). If your Bonnell family information indicates any links in New Jersey to the McM...s I'd very much appreciate knowing about them. Also, do you have any idea why my aunt might have a cane, given circa 1915 to my great-grandfather, William T. McMane(s) that bears the inscription "carried by Johnathan C. Bonnel in 1840 and given to William McMane.'' We sure don't know. Thanks and good luck with your reaseach.
