The Bonneau name was changed to Bono and also to Goodwater by some of the descendants of my ancestor, Joseph Bonneau, who settled in Quebec in 1666.I even work with someone whose last name is Bono, who we discovered is a distant cousin of mine.Joseph Bonneau came from the Poitou region of France. He was a Catholic. You will discover more information about him at the following website:http:www.genealogie.org/famille/bonneau/bonneau.html.There were also Bonneaus who settled in South Carolina. They were Protestant (Huguenots). There is even a town in South Carolina named Bonneau.Good luck with your research.
