In SOUTHWEST LA RECORDS by Donald J. Hebert, in the records of Lafayette parish, I found these:
Eloi BONIN, b. 5 March 1851, parents:
Luc & Marie Orelia Commau.
Francois Derbes Bonin, b. 13 Dec. 1854,
parents: Luc & Marie Aurelia Comeau.
Severin Bonin, b. 30 Jan. 1853; parents:
Luc & Marie Aurisca Commau.

I wonder if the father might be the Lucien Bonin,b. 1832 to Joseph Bonin& Marie Broussard.
