Patti,

We have a Y-DNA test from a descendant of Hezekiah Bonham of New Hanover Co., NC, in our Bonham Y-DNA project at Family Tree DNA (FTDNA). He matches the "-iah" Bonhams quite well, but we have still not been able to determine the exact link between the New Hanover Bonham line and the New Jersey Bonham line. It would likely be via MD, from whence his wife, Thomasina Carterīs, family hailed. As to Tamlinson, Tomasin, etc. Carter, there have been rumours as to her having been of American Indian or African American origin and those rumours are just that, and have no substantion. She was of an old MD (via VA) family and her Carter family was engaged in shipping as were some of the Bonhams. That may be the link, though Carter family members and I have not been able to pin that down.

Linda
