In Smith's "Bonham" on page 47, R.C. Bonham, concord, Tenn. writes:
"Benj. Bonham, Sr., lived in Wythe Co., Va. His sons, Martin L. and Benj. moved to Blount Co., Tenn. about 1812, Martin L., a wheel-wright, settled in the Long Hollow, not far from the Middle Settlement; and there was a large spring on this place. There was a M.E. church at the Middle Settlement called by the same name, and in the cemetary there the old Bonhams are buried. Benj., a Methodist preacher, bought a farm on the Caney Branch near the village of Louisville, and only a few miles from Martin's place, where he lived and died."
The Benjamin who died in Tenn was Benjamin Jr. -- It is suggestive that Benjamin Sr. might have been Methodist as well. However, Benjamin Jr.'s son, my great-great-grandfather became a Presbyterian minister, so it's always possible that Benjamin Sr. and Jr. held different beliefs.
