Reason I was surprised was that popular history has really made three heroes. Bowie, Travis, and Crockett. Bonham gets rare mention, in most places.

My wife's brothers havce pestered me for years to be sure I find what I can on James Butler Bonham. so we know his story well. They just had to know if and how they are related to him.

This led me to find more about hks family including his brother who was also well known. We were in Columbia SC a few years ago. since my wife is a Bonham they let us in the balcony of the Senate, or was it House, to take a picture of her next to his portrait, guess they have portraits there of all ex-govs.
