It doesnīt hurt, not even financially (if you descend from any of the Bonhams we are lacking). If you can pay, it costs 101 dollars for a Y-DNA test (12 markers). We also have gift certificates towards 24 and 26 markers. In our Bonham family Y-DNA project we have descendants of Malakiah, Amariah, Uriah and Nehemiah (of the -iahs). Their Y-DNA matches, proving they were of the same family. We need the rest of the "-iahs": Hezekiah, Jr., Zachariah, Amaziah, Jeremiah, Ephraim, Josiah, Obadiah and Zephamiah. We also need a descendant of Ephraim, son of Samuel, by Hezekiah Bonhamīs 1st marriage to Mary Dunn. Futhermore, we need descendants of Samuel Bonham of VA who was in VA BEFORE the Mayflower. Anyone ever wonder where Nicholas Bonham came from? He was NOT of George Bonham. We also need any other Bonhams who were in the Colonies in the early 1600īs. Why the reluctance? The markers tested on the Y-DNA gene have NO relation to any diseases. Data is protected. You donīt HAVE to pay for the test.
