This indeed has to be the correct David N. Bonesteel. I have learned that the Historical Society was incorrect, a Phillip Bonesteel never owned the property I live in. David N. Bonesteel did. He purchased the property April 18, 1846 (the year his father died) and two years after his marriage. Mary Bonesteel (his daughter)sold the property October 2, 1866. I am glad to have found the correct Bonesteel and if you have any additional information about him and his family I would like to add it to the history of this house and share it with the Historical Society of Red Hook as well. It appears the house was built by Dr. William Wheeler a prominent man of his time. Thank you so very much for your information. It has been a great help in putting together the history of my home.
