I don't know if this will help or not. My family tree includes a Boughner from Holland pronounced Bok-nair with the accent on the Bok. The name didn't pronounce like it was spelled so it has been shortened to Bough,Bonner and possibly Boner. We have kept the original spelling and it is now pronunced like Boner. My ancester was Christian Wesley Boughner, born in Kentucky abt 1825. He was the son of A.B. Boughner and Priny Pool. He served with Co. L ,7th Cavalry of Illinois volunteers during the Civil War and lists his home as Mound Ill.This may not help but happy hunting.
