Hello Chris I read your post a few days ago and wanted to do some research before getting back to you as I was somewhat stumped by your statement, you said you were aware of there being several Graham Clan Septs with the names starting with Bon. Now that's news to me so is this your research are hear say, as I am a researcher and have been for many, many years I am unaware of anything anywhere near that statement. But this is what I do know the name of Graham is of Norman origin and was later found in Montrose and Midlothian Scotland, now in those days of clan warfare it was strongly advisable to seek " protection " from the strongest clan in the neighborhood no matter your surname if you had one or even if you had blood ties to the family of the Chief. So the Graham's were a part of the Montrose and Midlothian clan's, now the surname of the Bone family was a part of the Ayrshire, Edinburgh and other clan's I hope this helps, the surnames of de Bohan, de Bohon and many other spellings were the earlier spellings of the Bone family depending on where they lived. You said the name of Graham Bone has been passed down for several generations in your family so if you check back into your history you may find that a female maiden name Graham married into the family, she must have been well loved as children were named to honor a female in their family. In those days records were hard to keep for many reasons so anyone hearing the names Graham & Bone knew what families the children came from, this was their living records most of the time these maiden name were of the mothers, grandmothers but sometimes of a beloved aunt but always in the family. Chris I hope this has been of some help I am also a part of the Bone family and have researched them pretty well so if I can be of help e-mail me at home. Nell
