Dear Sandy,
Here is a copy of the information I posted on the BUNDREN family forum in response to your question:
Hiram Bundren (actually Bondurant prior to the family's move out of VA to NC and points west) was b.c. 1819/1820 in TN. He m. 27 Jan 1845 Grainger Co., TN Mary Elvira Hayes b.c. 1822 NC. They are listed in the 1850 census of Grainger Co., TN as follows:
Hiram Bundren 31 TN farmer $300
Mary E. 28 NC
Wm. R. 4 TN
Adaline 3 TN
Elizabeth 5/12 TN
The family was residing in Jackson Co., KY in 1860 (indexed on Ancestry.com as Hiram Burdson):
Hiram Bundern 42 TN farmer $350 $200
Mary E. 36 NC
Nameray? 13 TN (female)
Elizabeth 11 TN

They are listed in Dist. 2 of Rockcastle Co., KY in 1870:

They are listed in Lincoln Co., KY Crab Orchard in the 1880 census (indexed on Ancestry.com as Bundson):

Thomas 23 KY TN NC son farm laborer

Olsney? S. 12 KY TN NC daug
residing beside
James F. Bundren 27 KY TN NC farmer
Malinda 28 KY KY KY wife
plus
Annie Wadkins 9 KY KY KY step-daug.
I believe, but cannot prove, that Hiram Bundren/Bondurant was the youngest son of Francis Bondurant and Elizabeth King. Francis was b.c. 1764 Buckingham Co., VA m.c. 1788 Elizabeth King (probably m. VA or NC). The family was in Rockingham Co., NC in 1810. I think they moved to TN before 1820. Francis continued to reside there until his death in 1836 in Claiborne Co., TN. He received a Revolutionary War pension. I have not found any estate papers, wills or land records to verify all of Francis' children, but I think there were 10 of them. The only 2 that are proven to be his children are Leander and Sarah, both of whom migrated to Indiana. There is no proof, but Francis is thought to have been the son of Richard Bondurant, Sr. b. 22 Aug 1740 King Wm. Parish, Goochland Co. area of VA. His wife is reported to have been Cecilia Ann Hall b.c. 1741 d. 1774/1829. I think Richard took his family to NC, but then he returned to VA before he died. Richard was the son of John Bondurant Sr. (there seems to be much controversy over the number and names of the women he married, so I will leave the spouse part blank). This John Bondurant was the son of the original immigrant, Jean Pierre Bondurant b.c. 1677 Genolhac, Gard, France d. 1734/1735 Goochland Co., VA in part that is now Powhatan Co., VA.
That's somewhat on the sketchy side, but maybe it will help you get started. Please let me know if you find errors in these data.
