[This post was written by Bev Farrington, who has asked me to publish it here. There is one comment I have added below in brackets. -BC] I believe I have found the proof that Borome/Boson/etc. was Jean Baptiste and the son of Francois & Seraphine Patenaude who was baptized 14 Mar 1825, St-Philippe, Laprairie. My belief: his 1st wife was Angeline Douglas aka Duclos, married @1849/50 and that she was deceased by 1860; and that his 2nd wife was Marie Angeline Labonte, married after 1856 but before 1860 USC. Recapping the early censuses: 1850 USC - Black Brook - LABOMBARD (Indexed as LABAMCARD) - Only a few houses from his parents Francois & Seraphine. They are residing next to Benjamin Douglas and his wife Felicite Dupuis who married in 1841 at St-Jacques-le-Mineur, Laprairie. The record does not indicate that he had a prior wife. His father was Charles but his mother's name is unreadable. I'm confident that Angeline was closely related, possibly a younger sister. No success yet of finding her on Drouin. Bosone, 24, Canada Angeline, 21 Canada 1860 USC - Black Brook - BOMBARD - Next to his brother Francois JR & Hermine: Bason, 25, Canada Mary, 22, Canada Xavier, 4, male, Canada COMMENT: The ages for this couple are off by about 10 years from the 1850 1870 USC - Black Brook - Indexed as BOROMR BONEBOELL - Living between his brother Francois JR & Hermine and whom I believe to be one of her brothers, Francois Labonty JR & Emelie: Boroma, 45, Canada Mary, 30, Canada Exevia, 15, female, NY <indexed as EVERNE> 1880 USC - Black Brook - BOMBARD Borom, 45, Canada Mary, 44, Canada Benjamin, 8, NY Frank, 7, NY Joseph, 2/12, NY I have had the following census in my UNKNOWN folder almost since the beginning of this project. Then I started working on the 1910 to 1930 group, and it fell right into place. 1900 USC - Black Brook - LABOMBARB John, 61, born Mar 1839, NY, widow, 5 children/3 still living <female> Joseph, 20, born Mar 1880, NY, single, son Mina, 7, born Jan 1893, NY, granddaughter COMMENT: I suspect it was supposed to say Mrs. John COMMENT: Mina was Florence Melvina, born Jan 1893 to Francois/Frank and his first wife Melvina Rocque who died soon after this child's birth. The child was NOT with her father and stepmother in the 1900 USC. COMMENT: See comment under Joseph regarding his marriages. Recapping variations of ages, birth places, names, etc: Birth/Baptism = JB/1825.....Wives ??? No records found 1850 USC = Bosone/24, @1826....Angeline/21, @1829, Canada 1860 USC = Bason/25, @1835....Mary/22, @1838, Canada 1870 USC = Boroma/45, @1825....Mary/30, @1840, Canada 1880 USC = Boron/45, @1835....Mary/44, @1836, Canada 1900 USC = JB/deceased.....Mary/61, Mar 1839, NY 1910 USC = ..........Mary/73, @1837, NY 1920 USC = ..........Mary/81, @1839, NY 1930 USC = ..........Mary/91, @1839, NY 1871 B/Bp = Denis & Mary Labonte 1873 B/Bp = John B. & Mary Labonte 1881 B/Bp = John Batisse & Angeline Bombard 1893 or 1903/M = John & Mary Labonte Immaculate Conception of Keeseville - Serving as Godparents: 1854 - Boron LeBombard & Severine Douglas - child of Francois JR & Hermine Menard 1856 - Boson LeBombard & Emily Chartier - child of David LaBonte & Rosalie Martin 1859 - Boyon LeBombard & Mary LaBonte - child of Sarah LaBonte & Harriet Bodro COMMENT: The child was named Sarah and I believe it was a transcription error to assign that name to the father. I checked all other entries and do not know who the father was. COMMENT: David LaBonte married Rosalie Martin in 1855 at St. John the Baptist of Keeseville. His parents were Francois LaBonte & Marie Decelles. I've not been able to locate a marriage record for them, nor any children on Drouin. There were many dit names used with Labonte and the most prevalent one in the Keeseville area was Marotte. I strongly suspect that Marie Angeline was one of their children. COMMENT: Further substantiation (in my opinion) of two wives, is the fact that Mary stated in both 1900 and 1910 that she had 5 children and 3 still living. That first child was not hers, the last five were. The two deceased by 1900 were Anna and Benjamin. I used a wide variety of search options looking for Benjamin up through the 1930 and found none. That would leave John-Francis, Joseph, and Eliza. 1. CERINE/SERINA/XAVIER 1860 USC - XAVIER, male, age 4, Canada, w/parents 1870 USC - EVERNE or EVRISSE, female, age 15, NY, w/parents Not w/parents in 1880 USC - probably married Cerina (f) to Moses LeBombard & Cerine Douglas - Born 9, baptized 18 May 1856, Immaculate Conception of Keeseville - Godparents: Francois LeBombard & Felicite Dupuis COMMENT: I believe this child is the one shown of varying names and birth locations, and listed as child #1, and that Moses is JB/Borome/etc. and Cerine is actually Angeline. The volume is chockfull of errors and question marks, so the original records must have been awful to transcribe. For whatever reason, the child was listed as a male and born in Canada in the 1850, but I'm confident the children are one and the same, and also the same as the Cerine of 1856. 2. ANNA P. - born 4, baptized 24 Jul 1871 to Denis LaBombard & Mary LaBonte - Godparents: Solomen Maier & Philomene Toussaint - Holy Name of Ausable Forks COMMENT: No death record, nor any cemetery listing, but apparently died young - Not w/parents in 1880 3. BENJAMIN - born @1871 1880 USC - age 8 1900 USC - Not found COMMENT: The name given this child furthers my belief that there is a connection to Benjamin Douglas/Duclos. 4. JOSEPH W. - born Mar 1880 per 1900 USC, and age 2/12 in 1880 USC Married Alvina/Eveline LAFONTAINE aka LaFountain, 29 Jan 1893, Holy Name, Ausable Forks COMMENT: Is there a transcription error on the marriage date? Joseph is single and w/mother in 1900 and age of 20. 1910 USC states he had been married 4 years, so @1906. 1930 USC states he married at age 23, so @1903.
