HELP NEEDED - Benjamin & sister Octavia
Posted by: Bev Farrington (ID *****1159) Date: March 06, 2009 at 01:35:25

I have found this odd group and have no idea who they might be. The only Benjamin that I ever found in either Clinton or Essex counties was the son of Antoine JR and wife Marie Rougier. He is listed as age 10 in the 1870 and age 22 in the 1880.

I cannot find any Octavie born in the 1850 time frame on Drouin, nor can I find any daughter in that time frame for Antoine & Marie. They had a daughter Pauline in 1848 and son Joseph in 1850. The daughter Pauline is accounted for in 1900, so it could not be she with a different version of her name.

I find no sign of any of these people in the 1910. I also checked the 1880 for any Octavia or similar. The fact that she had only 3 children at the ages of 32, 37, and 40 is also questionable, and I wonder if the birthyear is a bit off. It is also interesting to note that Benjamin was already widowed, if that is correct.

Octavia's surname is a bit hard to read. It is indexed as BURNIA.

1900 USC - North Elba (Essex)
Benjamin LaBombard, 39, born Oct 1860, NY, widowed - Head
Octavia Buria, 50, born Apr 1850, Canada, widowed - Sister - 3 children/3 still living
Bessie Burnia, 18, born May 1882, NY
Raymond, 12, born Oct 1887, NY
Mable, 10, born Apr 1890, NY

If anyone can shed light on these people, please post!
