Jean Bombardier
Mary Thomas :
Monday, December 28, 1998

This is how it all started.

1. Jean Bombardier married in approximately 1680, Marie Francoise Guellin
in Flandre, France.

2. Jean and Marie had a son whom they named Andre Bombardier dit Labombarde.
Andre became a soldier with the compagnie d'Aloigny. He came to Quebec
with the French army. Andre was born in 1684 in Tournai, Flandre (Nord),
France which is situated very close to the Belgium border.

3. Andre Bombardier dit Labombarde married Marguerite Demers in Notre
Dame Church in Montreal 12 June 1706. Andre had a son whom he also
named Andre.

4. Andre Bombardier dit Labombarde married Francoise Thibault in Pte Aux Trembles, Quebec. They were married 19 May 1738.

5. Andre and Francoise had a son named Jacques Labombarde. Jacques married
Charlotte Goguet 30 May 1763 in Chambly, Quebec. There were major French
military installations in Pte. aux Trembles and Chambly.

6. Jacques and Charlotte had three sons who migrated to the USA. These sons
were Michel, Pierre and Francois. Michel's descendants settled in the area
of Bangor, NY. Pierre's descendants eventually became very numerous in the
Champlain Islands. Francois' descendants settled in the Beekmantown and
Ausable Forks areas of NY. Actually, another son Antoine also moved to the USA
and very large numbers of his descendants are now in Massachusetts.

Our branch is the Beekmantown Branch and as Grandpa Frank so often mentioned,
his grandfather Francois was a brother of Joseph who eventually died in Ausable
Forks.

Frank Wells' LaBombard branch were descendants of Pierre.

There were Zebs in all of these branches and somehow I feel that they probably all
knew one another.

Thanks for reading this message. Best wishes from Mary LaBombard Thomas
