Here's another instance for you. In the 1800s, my husband's ggf, George Labombard (some family members say it was Labombardier) came to Vermont and the name was changed to Barber. This has presented no end of difficulties tracing the line. We don't know of any family members in Conn, but do you have any in Vt?
