I am the keeper of the database on the James and Sarah Bolton family of Wake Co. NC; they were the ancestors of your Andrew Jackson Bolton (b. 3/16/1857 or 1858,d. 4/15/1917 (alternate death date 7/15/1917)) and Willie Lue Thorn (b. 7/5/1874, d. 1/6/1960). Your Marcy Reddin Bolton was born 11/12/1894 in Russellville, Franklin Co. AL and married Essie. I do not have further dates on Marcy and Essie. Andrew Jackson Bolton was the son of Reddin Bolton (b. 12/12/1822, d. 11/18/1885) and Elizabeth Jane Byrd (b. 6/3/1836, d. 8/25/1899). Reddin was the son of James Bolton (b. abt. 1776 probably in Wake Co. NC, d. April, 1850 in Pickens Co. AL) and his wife Mary (Polly) Chamblee (b. abt. 1780 probably in Wake Co. NC, d. between 1830 and 1840 in Pickens Co. AL). The above James was the son of James and Sarah Boulton of Little River District, Wake Co. NC. HOWEVER, James did not have a known middle initial. The "B" frequently attributed as his middle initial came from me, and was subsequently proved to be wrong; he used the "B" as his mark to sign legal documents, but the "B" referred to the first initial of his last name. I know that because when I compared his original will to the official copy entered in the willbooks of Wake Co., the clerk did not include the "B" in James' name. Additionally, his birthyear of 1738 also came from me and was an estimate based on his age of military service in the NC militia unit of Captain Osborn Jeffreys (of Granville/Bute/Franklin Co.) plus the ages of his children. Unfortunately James apparently lived in the area of present-day Franklin Co. (then Johnston Co.) that was just south of the Bute Co. line; this area's early tax records do not survive. About 1780 James and Sarah moved from present-day Franklin Co. just over the dividing line (Moccasin Creek) about 3 city blocks into Wake Co. (in Little River District) where they remained until their deaths. James and Polly moved from Wake Co. NC to the then Pickens Co. area of AL (today Greene Co. AL) along the Sipsey River about 1825 or 1826 (this is confusing because James and Polly continued to have others pay their taxes on their land in Wake Co. even after they left for AL, presumbably because they wanted to have something to come back to if things didn't go well in AL. Some time after 1835 James disposed of his land in Wake Co., but there is no surviving deed (and I haven't read the Court Minutes to get a date for this); I don't know know to whom.
