Nell, I am a distant cousin to you. Elizabeth Rebecca (Skillman)Bolton, (the wife of Joseph) was the daughter of David Randolph Skillman and Rebecca Canterbury. David's younger brother Elijah B. Skillman was my GG-Grandfather. David Skillman's parents were Isaac Skillman and Lydia Lindsay. Rebecca (Canterbury) Skillman's father was John Canterbury- mother unknown.

Some believe Lydia was her mother- this is incorrect. Lydia did marry John Canterbury, Rebecca's father, but it was in 1820 in Bibb Co. AL after her first husband Isaac Skillman had died about 1819. David the 19 year old son of Lydia Skillman, married his step-sister the daughter of John Canterbury. Wich was no problem, they were grown, and not kin. I have seen much worse in researching back in those days. My niece and I have quite a bit of info on the Skillman side and Allied families. Would like to learn more on the Bolton line, and would love to share info. Our families came from Tishomingo, MS and McNairy Co. TN as well. Thanks Danny J. Skillman, skilled@hopper.net
