I ran onto your Mitchell again. As I said in an earlier message, he was in Hawkins, TN in 1830. I found him in 1840 in Mississippi. This would make sense since you say the son Marion L. was born in western TN - it's not far over into Mississippi.
Here's the census & other data which you may already have:
Mitchell Bolling was listed in the Hawkins Co., TN 1836 tax list in Civil District 11. An Isaac Boling was also listed there. Mitchell Boling is supposed to have sold land in Hawkins Co. in Sept. 1837. The land adjoined land once owned by Isaac Boling. Mitchell & family moved to western Tennessee and then to Marshall, MS by 1840.

Marion Boling may have gone to Mariposa Co., CA by 1860 to be a miner. A 34 yr. old Marion Boling, b. in TN appears in the 1860 census in Bear Valley, Mariposa Co., CA.
Does this all fit what you have? From what I have learned, Isaac Boling was Mitchell's brother. Isaac moved to Owens Co., Indiana. Isaac was married first to Mary Coltrane and in Indiana, he married a 2nd time to Nancy Hicks Coffelt. A descendant of your Marion's has tested into Group 6 in the Bolling DNA project. Do you know about this already? Group 6 claims a Benjamin Boling & Sarah Telitha Hancock of North Carolina as the parents of Mitchell & Isaac both, along with other siblings.
