Is your Mitchell the same as the one living in Hawkins Co., TN in the 1830 census?
Mitchell Bowling:
2 males under 5
1 male age 10-15
2 males age 15-20
1 male age 30-40 (Mitchell I presume)
2 females age 5-10
1 female age 20-30
1 female age 30-40
Neighbors on one side were Hezekiah Hamblen, James Nugent, Orville Rice, Mary Gamble, Jemima Gibson & Hutson Fisher. On the other side were Peyton Hutson, Thomas Hamblen, Charles Swain, Coleman Leath, William Davis & Edward Nugent.
He's not my kin that I know of, but have often wondered who he was.
