Boling / Pocahontas Connection
Posted by: Colin Boling (ID *****3708) Date: August 27, 2005 at 06:13:20

When my great grandmother passed away, we found a very old genealogy in the safe box. It contained some very old genealogy which connected my family as direct descendants of Pocahontas. I have done some research and it all seams to hold up. She did not marry John Smith as most people believe, but did marry a man named Thomas Rolfe. They had a daughter together who married a Boling. Together, they had a son who supposedly carried on the Boling family name all the way down to me, making Pocahontas a very great grandmother.

Does anybody else have any information as to the accuracy of this? It is interesting and I would like to know if anybody else has heard of the connection and if there is any way to verify my relation.

Thanks

Colin
