Folks researching the Boling name may want to check out information in the Narpes region of Finland, and (even further back) Dalarna Sweden. In my Boling family line, the name comes from i Bole by, Narpes, Finland.
A great resource for tracking Swede-Finn Boling anscestors is www.genealogia.org/scripts/hiski.dll/ .. an online database of christening and marriage records. You'll find some gaps, because many church records were lost when Russians burned down churches around 1808.
I would love to compare notes with other Boling descendents from Närpes, Finland and have good information to share on:
- Descendents of Anders Hansson Böling (1796-1880) in Böle by, Närpes parish in Finland. Married to Maja Lisa Johansdotter Nordback (1799-1875) in Nämpnäs region of Närpes, Finland. Their eight children were: Anna Stina, Maja Lisa, Lena Greta, Anders Henrik, Johan Andersson, Klara Sophia, Caisa and Johanna. All were christened in Böle by, i
Närpes.
- Descendents of Johan Andersson Boling (1828-1900) and Lena Greta Eriksdotter (1837-1897) of Böle by, i Närpes, Finland. Johan and Lena had 12 children. Those who came to the U.S. were Carl Oskar, Alexander, Johan, Josef, Gust, Edvard, Johanna and Maria. Most siblings settled in Seattle and Conway, Washington. Around the 1900s, primary family names in the line of JOHAN and LENA GRETA BöLING included BOLING/BURLING, PETERSON and TRASK. Today, this line encompasses family names ANTOS, ASPELIN, BERGSTROM, BRANNAS, BRITTON, BURLING, BUNCH, BUSTIOS, COOK, ERICKSON, FAURI, FLOOD, FRANZ, HAYNES, HEGEBERG, KREIDLER, MEHAN, MEYERS, MILLER, MOYER, MORRISON, OLSON, PIERCE, ROBBINS, SCUSSEL, SIPPOLA, STITT, TEETER, TODD and YATES.
- Descendents of Anders Henrik and Lena BöLING. (Their four children: Gustava, William, Johanna and Caroline. Johanna Christine BöLING) Family names in this line today probably include HAGEN, KING, GRIFFITHS and COOK. Anders' descendents probably have a Washington state connection as well.
