The key here seems to be a hard one to crack, however, it is also very evident that these are some of the most unusual names I've ever seen. I agree that Olier is probably a female name. I have never seen the name before, and I do speak French.

Thursea I have seen before, but I cannot remember where; it seems a Greek classic to me, or Roman.

And that gives the key away. Why such unusual names? I would have suspected an area near New Orleans, some cajun and creole influence, except that you say they all migrated from Georgia.

You need to post very specific stuff about the places in Georgia. From there, you most probably can tie it all into the Bolings/Bowlings/Bollings in the area.

You also mention North Carolina. The one place that ties all of these together is Chattanooga, Tennessee. From one point there, you can see seven states. It's a famous area and lots of things crisscross state borders and lead to documentation nightmares. Rock City, I believe is where you can see 7 states from.

Those states, and I can mention a few, are all within less than one day's travel:

Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama, South Carolina, but I don't know how they get two others. In any case, at least two of the states you mention are within a days journey of each other.

Arkansas is just the other side of Tennessee, via Nashville, and through Memphis, then across the Mississippi.

1871 is just one of those years that causes trouble everywhere. It is during the carpetbaggers' years just after the Civil War; and I am loathe to say that this forced many Americans from their home towns to new lives in more wilderness areas. The West being the most untamed of the time.

A lot of what you say make a lot of sense. The question is, where was Thursea Martin Bowling born in 1832? That is crucial. I am familiar with the name Martin Bowling or Bolling, but not Thursea. I really have to look that name up, it is so unusual.

Til your reply,

Tj
