Chief Bowles, Cherokee

I have heard that Chief Bowles or Duwa'li is where a lot of our Bolin's came from. Has anyone researched the Bolins being Cherokee? Chief Bowles was a half Scotch, half Cherokee who moved to Missouri in 1794 from North Carolina. Many of the Bolins are found on the Dawes Rolls of Cherokees. I would be interested in corresponding with anyone who has researched this.
