I am trying to contact family members of Roy E. Bolin, MIA 9/27/1944. KIA notification most likely came after wrs ended.
My 1st cousin Charles E Weatherly (KIA)was engineer/top turret gunner on this plane piloted by Roy. I have recent information about their last battle including plane location,it broke into 3 pieces.
Only one of the nine crew members survived crash and POW camp. Unfortunately they were in one of the most disastrous air battles of WWII, called the Kassel Mission. Of 34 B-24 bombers in the fight only 4 bombers survived. 28 bombers and 29 German fighters were shot down in six minutes. Please go to kasselmission.com to verify what I have written. If you have any information or can help to get information about Roy E Bolin please contact Don Lum 435-820-4128 or Linda Dewey 231-642-0742, Linda is President of the Kassel Mission Historical Society. On 08/01/2010 there is a memorial service to honor these brave men in Germany near Kassel Germany. Relatives families of these brave men are welcome. As of now my family are the only realitive that know about the Kassel Mission Memorial.
It would be an honor to have all families represented in person or letter.

Thank You
Don R Lum ph 435-820-4128
