Ava, I do hope you are still working on the family of Esom Bolen. Your message caught my eye due to the mention of both Esom Bolen and Elizabeth Gibson.
Elizabeth Bolen born 20 Jan 1820 in KY married first to Andrew Johnson. In the 1850 census of Wayne Co., KY, (District 2), Elizabeth Johnson is listed with her three children from this marriage (Joseph N, Pleasant, and Polly J) living next door to Esom Bolen (born circa 1810 KY). Esom has in his household females Mariah, Permilla, Eliza, Nancy, and Patsy. The ages of the females indicate they are probably his daughters.
Elizabeth (Bolen) Johnson married next to Henry P Gibson in 1851, Wayne Co., KY. This of course is the couple with whom your Esom Bolen was living in the 1870 census of Pulaski Co., KY.
Do you have any more information on Esom, the elder? Wondering if possibly he was a brother of Elizabeth (Bolen) Johnson Gibson.
I know what happened to Elizabeth and her children from the second marriage, but could use some help with her Johnson children.
As you stated, I can't find any marriage record for Polly Johnson or Polly Garland and Esom Bolen, but I did find one that might account for the first marriage which produced the daughter Mary J Garland. On 12 Dec 1866, in Pulaski Co., KY a William E Garland married a Polly Jane Bolen. I believe that Polly's brother Joseph N Johnson was also married to a Garland.
I really need help with these people. I would appreciate any input you might be able to provide on either Bolen or Johnson.
