Iquote from Tennessee Settlers and Their Descendants, Pages 93 and 94:
HENRY M. DEAL,---In Sumner County, Tennessee by 1810 Born in 1779 in Lincoln Co. North Carolina, d. ca-1850-1860 in Davidson O.,TN, married MARIAH MAGDALINA BOLICKca1803 in Lincoln CO, NC. Parents of prime ancestor ; Jacob/Jacob Diehl and Margaret Roseman, both born possibly in Pennsylvania. Known children
of prime ancestor; Mary Deal b. 1805 in Lincoln Co. NC; William Deal b. in 1810, Henry Deal b. in 1812, James A. Deal b. in
1814, Rebecca Deal, b. in 1817, Lydia Deal, b. in 1818 and Elizabeth Deal b. in 1819, Serena Deal b. in 1821, all in Sumner Co. TN."
I contacted the submitter of this information in an attempt to locate the source, however, she no longer had her records.
I wrote the Tennesse Genealogical Socoiety, but my mail was returned.
On the BOLCH or BOLICK GENEALOGYWeb Page there is a JOHN CASPER BOLCH or BOLICK maried to MARIAH MAGDALINA DEAL or DIEHL, 28 Dec. 1779, Tryon, NC.. John Casper Bolch or Bolick died Aug. 27, 1834, Mariah Magdalena
Deal died Oct. 25, 1839.
My great-grandfather was Henry Deal b. April 12, 1812, Married Anna Mathis Cole in Davidson County, TN June 20, 1838. According to the 1850 Davidson County TN Census, he was born in KY (Could very well could be TN or NC due to confusion in boundaries) Theirknown children: John Washington b. 1839, Henry Pilmore b. 1840, Wesley Edwards b. 1842, Martha Ann b. 1844, Mary Jane b. 1846, William James b. 1848, all born in TN.Other children were Lydia Temperance,Thomas, Rufus,( all born in TN ) and Ellen, Virginia,(my grandmother) Eleanor, Charles and "Brown Eyes." (all born in LA) ‘
On Sistler’s Transcription of the 1850 Tennessee Census Davidson CO, there is a Henry Deal, Age 71 b. in North Carolina with wife Mary, Age 66, with an Elizabeth Abernathy, Age 12 in the household. If the daughter Elizabeth b. in 1819 married James A. Abernathy, according to Sistler’s “Early Middle Tennessee Marriages” Vol. 2, Brides Page 142, onSeptember 19,1817 in Davidson Co. possibly Elizabeth and James Abernathy died and the child was being raised by the grandparents.
This leads me to believe that this same Henry M Deal and Mariah Magdalina Bolick are the father of my Henry Deal and other siblings listed in the Tennesee Settlers and their Descendants.” The 66 year old Mary listed on the 1850 Census would have been born around 1784 and about 19 years old when she married Henry M. Dealca. 1803.If she was indeed a Bolick who were her parents?
I can’t figure the connections.
On the BOLCH OR BOLICK Web Page there is a JOHN CASPER BOLICK married to MARIA MAGDALINA DEAL or DEAL, 28 Dec.1779. Tryon, N.C. John Casper died Aug. 17, 1834, Maria Magdalina died Oct. 25, 1839. With all the references to the Deal and Bolick families, I can't find a connection in my searches.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
