I don't know if it is the same family, but my great grandfather was John Bolger, who was born in Ireland in 1830. He came to US in 1851 and settled in Rochester. He was married twice; his 2nd wife was Catherine Murray who was born in Ireland. John had 5 children: James, Katherine, Mary, Thomas & my grandmother Sarah.

I've also seen John Bolger's name spelled Bulger.
